Who we are

  • This blog is used by staff at the United Nations Economic Commision for Europe in order to share and pool research information on Regional Trade Agreements (RTAs). The principal focus is RTAs in Southeast Europe, the CIS and Central Asia, with a secondary focus on RTAs in Western and Central Europe and North America. For comparison purposes, we may also post information about RTAs in other parts of the world.

"Disintegration"

Simeon Djankov and Caroline Freund published in December 1999 this article entitled "Disintegration", giving an assessment of the effects of trade barriers and the persistence of past linkages on trade flows in the Former Soviet Union, using a gravity model that includes fourteen of these republics.
